Today was an exciting day. I would say it was the hightlight of the whole 4-day road trip. This morning we headed back into Banff and had breakfast at the Thai restaurant. No... they didn't give us a Thai breakfast. They gave us a very American breakfast: scrambled eggs, sausage, bread, bacon and fries. Yum, Yum. On our way to the first site, we saw rams?
After seeing rams on the side of the road, we went to our first stop. Lake Louise Gondola Ride. I think it's called Lake Louise Ski Resort viewing...Supposed to have the best grizzly bear viewing and scenery in the rockies. Didn't see any grizzlies though. There were two ways to go up: in a chair or in a little cable car. I chose the car. I would freak out so much if I went up in the chair. Every so often the line suddenly stops for people at the station to get off, this causes everyone else on the line to sudden jerk and sway.... Good thing I chose the cable car. When you got up to the top, you really could see a really pretty view. It was a 15 minute ride up and down 2088 meters.
rode up the mountain in this cable car.
View from ontop, many tourist groups (including ours) up there at the same time.

Next stop was the Columbia Icefield. We actually walked ontop of a glaicier. It was so cool and not to mention cold. We were on the bus and all along the way you would see these white mountain tops. That's because there is ice covering it. I never would've imagined we would actually be able to walk on one. The glacier we went on was the Athabasca Glaicier. It is 300 meters thick of ice. It's really cold and slippery. The interesting thing was the ice is a light blue color. Defintely different from the average ice. It sparkled too when the sun shone across the surface. Melting ice on the glaicier created little rivers of water. We were told before hand to bring empty bottles so we could fill it up with the glacier water. I even saw someone washing their face.

Our final stop was Jasper National Park. We were able to see a pretty waterfall. It was better than the one we saw the day before.
We also saw this at Jasper National Park right after we saw the waterfalls. This is known as the "Sleeping Indian" Look closely at the white peaks of the mountains. There is the eyes, nose, chin and tummy. Can you see it?
I made a panoramic picture of this one.
